The NINDS Office of Translational Research (OTR) manages a large portfolio of grant-funded projects, and R&D resources to facilitate the preclinical discovery and development of therapeutics and devices for neurological disorders. In addition to therapeutics development, OTR’s mission is to support research infrastructure for therapeutic development including drug target validation, the development of assays, and animal disease models and pre-IND and pre-IDE enabling studies.

Program Director, Cooperative Program in Translational Research  OTR  is seeking an entrepreneurial senior-level science executive for the position of Program Director, Cooperative Program in Translational Research to design and administer milestone-based grants. These grants currently provide up to $1 million per year in direct costs for 5 years in funding, to academic and industry researchers, to support the development of therapeutics and devices for the treatment of neurological diseases to the IND/IDE stage. The Program Director will oversee a team and be responsible for all aspects of the program. They will also have the opportunity to provide leadership to the neuroscience community on productive preclinical translational research strategies for neurological disorders. The candidate must have a MD or PhD degree in neuroscience, neurology, psychiatry, pharmacology, or one of the drug development sciences such as medicinal chemistry, DMPK, or toxicology. The candidate must also have 7+ plus years of experience developing therapeutics or devices for the treatment of neurological, neuroinflammatory, or psychiatric diseases.

Program Director, Preclinical Pharmacology – The OTR is seeking an innovative senior scientist for the position of Program Director, Preclinical Pharmacology to manage all aspects of OTR’s Preclinical Pharmacology Program, including the Anticonvulsant Screening Program (ASP).
