T2 Speaker Series - Protecting the Homeland from Development through Transition: Department of Homeland Security Science and Technology Directorate

The Department of Homeland Security Science and Technology Directorate (DHS S&T) manages science and technology research to protect the homeland, from development through transition, for Department components and first responders. Its mission is to strengthen America's security and resiliency by providing knowledge products and innovative technology solutions for the Homeland Security Enterprise.
Dr. Daniel Gerstein, Deputy Under Secretary at DHS S&T, will provide insight into the structure, organization, and priorities of DHS S&T. He will specifically focus on the manner in which S&T is aligned with the operating components of DHS to meet their requirements and will describe ways for potential private sector partners to engage the Directorate.

MACH37 Cyber Accelerator Launch Event


The Accelerator is a program designed to facilitate the creation of the next generation of cybersecurity companies in Virginia. Supported by Governor McDonnell, the General Assembly appropriated $2.5 million to CIT to start and operate the Accelerator for two years, after which the Accelerator will secure private funding. MACH37 is the nation's first public-private sector Cyber Accelerator program.

NCATS Research & Development Day

NCATS' Research & Development Day will provide the unique opportunity to showcase the projects and technologies that have been incubating in a variety of NCATS drug development programs, including Therapeutics for Rare and Neglected Diseases (TRND) and Bridging Interventional Development Gaps (BrIDGs), to an audience of biopharmaceutical companies, venture capital, angel investors, foundations, and others. The object is to connect our collaborators with strategic partners that will provide financial and technical support to bring potential novel therapeutics to patients.

  • Virtual Startup Showcases – pre-conference live online presentations by some nominated companies to a select group of invitation-only investors and Global 1000 companies

All companies need to be nominated by their affiliated university, angel investor or VC investor. Initial self-nomination by the startup is possible, but must be later validated and officially nominated by a university, angel investor or VC investor affiliated with the company.
