(BHI) announces the additions of Anna Zornosa, MA, as an Entrepreneur-in-Residence (EIR) with the NIH Office of Extramural Research, and Aliye Hashemi, B.Sc., a BHI Analyst. The Entrepreneur-in-Residence Program at BHI ensures that disruptive technologies receive all the resources required to transform the technology from a discovery into a commercially relevant product and eventually have a measurable impact on human health. The program was created to support scientists, early-stage startups, and licensed technologies to provide them with access to these resources.

Thumb anna spring headshot cropped 200x200Anna Zornosa, MA, is an Advisor to early-stage companies, focusing on companies at the intersection of digital technologies and health innovation. During her career, she was on the founding teams of 5 start-ups, usually in the CEO role, and raised over $50 M in venture capital in fundings ranging from seed to advanced rounds. These companies had outcomes that included acquisitions and IPOs. Zornosa uses her expertise to assist start-ups in team formation, go-to-market strategies, partnerships, and fundraising. Zornosa has received awards for her work and has been profiled in Fast Company magazine, the Wall Street Journal, and AdAge. She was the keynote speaker at the “Women of Influence” seminar sponsored by the Milwaukee Business Journal in November 2019. She was named one of the “100 Most Influential Women in Silicon Valley” (Silicon Valley Business Journal.) In addition, she has served on numerous for-profit and nonprofit boards and is a Limited Partner in venture funds, including the Portfolia FemTech II fund. She has her Master’s Degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Thumb aliyehashemi 200x200Aliye Hashemi B.Sc. received her B.Sc. degree in Computer Engineering from the Amirkabir University of Technology, and her M.A. degree in Entrepreneurship Management from the University of Tehran, Iran. After moving to the US, Aliye earned her M.S. degree in Bioinformatics from George Mason University and is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology at Mason. Her current research interests include protein structure and function analysis, innovation, biological data analysis, and deep learning.
